Skeye Systems is currently working on two systems
for Schwebel's. The first is the Shipping and Distribution System. Skeye
Systems is using RFID technology to ensure that the right product gets onto the right truck
at the manufacturing plant. The system encompasses direct load (production line right onto the truck),
cross docking (from one plant to another before being put onto the transport
trailer) and drop shipment (customer-specific orders that are sent directly to customers' stores).
The RFID tags located on the racks and dollies are read at the point of manufacturing (where bread
is loaded onto the racks and dollies), and when the racks are rolled onto
the trucks.
Shipping personnel have handheld computers with voice/speech
recognition and voice response (Text to Speech - TTS). They are directed where to
take specific racks of products and they can query the system for any number of reports.
The second system is the handheld software application
(RapiDelivery™) and middleware (Skeye Manager and Skeye Comm.) to replace the dated
handheld route accounting system currently in place (11 - 12 years old).
The handheld software is a new generation of Windows CE software,
with powerful IP connectivity. The Skeye Manager allows route supervision and
management to examine, analyze and modify orders, route delivery
sequences, product display sequences, and limited configuration elements
of the handheld operation. It is one of the most complex and complete
handheld applications available for bakery systems - a culmination of
decades of hands-on experience in the baking industry.
